Finally could miss first match as Man Utd deal suffers hiccup

According to rumors, Raphael Varane could miss Man United's first match of the season due to a late integration into the group.

Man United revealed last Tuesday that they had reached an agreement with Real Madrid to recruit the 28-year-old France defender, subject to a physical and finalizing player terms, and Varane took to social media on Friday to bid Los Blancos farewell.

Varane is leaving the Spanish giants after ten years with the club, during which time he helped them win a slew of trophies, including four Champions League crowns.

The Red Devils are expected to add the World Cup winner's services to the recent signing of England winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

However, their hopes to get him settled in before the start of the new Premier League season have hit a snag.

Varane, according to the Daily Telegraph (via the Daily Star), is still waiting for his visa before moving to England.

DON'T MISS:

Varane was supposed to leave on Monday, but that has been postponed while he awaits authorization to travel.

When Varane lands in the UK, he will be quarantined and must complete a medical, according to the publication, which might mean he could miss the team's opening match of the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly concerned that he won't be able to integrate him into the squad in time, with Varane unlikely to play in any pre-season friendly before the team's August 14 match against Leeds.

Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, wants to continue “developing” at Manchester United this season.

DON'T MISS:

“Obviously, when I have a season like last season, things tend to get more demanding as well,” he told the club's official website.

“I want to keep playing, to keep giving everything I've got and to keep improving.” I know last season was incredible, but I feel I can perform even better this year.”

“Yeah, it was one of the most beautiful summers that I've had in a long time,” Dalot said of his time with the Portugal national team at Euro 2020.

“With the Under-21s, we obviously made it to the final. The tournament was a huge success. We deserved to win, but in the end, we were unable to do it.

“And then something happened that I wasn't anticipating at all, but being called up at the last minute for the Euros in the first squad was like a dream come true. Something that was extremely beneficial to me and my family, and it was an honor to be a part of it.”
