Manchester United star faces three months out after decision to undergo surgery for shoulder injury

The Independent reports that Marcus Rashford faces a three-month layoff following confirmation from Manchester United that he would have surgery on his shoulder issue.

According to The Independent, the 23-year-old has been battling with the injury since November, opting to play through the discomfort despite the fact that it had an influence on his performances.

Rashford then chose to postpone a decision on surgery until after the Euros, where he appeared five times as a substitute and missed a penalty in the final shootout.

Rashford discussed the situation with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club's medical staff this week, according to the Independent, and has now decided to have surgery in the hopes of resolving the issue once and for all.

DON'T MISS:

Rashford withdrew from the England squad for November's international fixtures after suffering the injury last season, but returned to the Red Devils as soon as the break was over.

Even with the injury, the wide striker managed 21 goals and 15 assists in 57 appearances for United in all competitions, suggesting that when he's fully fit, he'll be an even more dangerous threat for defenses.

It's a shame that Rashford had to deal with a shoulder injury last season, especially given his lengthy layoff in 19/20, but surgery appears to be the best option. Should it have been made when the problem first arose, though?
