He finally outlines what he is looking forward to most from Leeds United's Man United opener

Mateusz Klich has stated that he cannot wait for the return of the "unbelievably good" Leeds United fans, with the start of the new Premier League season just a week away.

The Whites face a difficult job on the first day of the season when they travel to Old Trafford to play Manchester United, a match they lost 6-2 last season.

Klich expressed his eagerness to play in front of fans again in an interview with BBC West Yorkshire Sport.

“The last time we played there, it wasn't a particularly good game, but it's a fantastic place to start,” he explained. “It's the Premier League, and no game is easy.

“The most important thing is that the supporters have returned to the stadium, which will make this game even greater. I can't wait to see Old Trafford packed with supporters, especially our away supporters, who are incredible.”

DON'T MISS:

Klich has already played in front of fans this summer, with fans present at all three of Poland's Euro 2020 matches last month, but the possibility of playing in front of Premier League fans excites the 31-year-old even more.

“We didn't have a lot of fans in the stadiums at the Euros, but we had fans in the stadiums, which was strange,” Klich added. “I missed the [Premier League] season's final two games, so I haven't yet played in front of the fans in the Premier League; I can't wait.”

When asked about Leeds' plans for the coming season, the midfielder was quick to point out that they are keeping their feet on the ground, with top-flight survival remaining their primary goal.

Klich cited the failures of some of the Whites' opponents in the past to explain why they aren't getting carried away.

DON'T MISS:

“I don't want to sit here and say we need to go to Europe or the Champions League because Sheffield United has shown us that the second season is really difficult and crucial,” he said.

“I believe we must ensure that we remain in the Premier League. This is our objective, and we'll see what happens, same like last year.”
