Manchester United closing in on £40million transfer with star negotiating personal terms

 Manchester United is allegedly close to signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane for £40 million.

For several years, the France international has been one of Europe's best defensive players, and he appears to be a great fit for Man United's backline.

Varane has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a few weeks now, though the Daily Mirror recently stated there may be a problem with his asking price.

According to the Daily Star, a deal on a £40 million cost is now closer, with the article claiming that the Red Devils are closing in on Varane as personal details are negotiated.

MUFC supporters will be hoping for a quick resolution, as Varane appears to be the ideal partner for Harry Maguire.

The England international has been a regular performer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, although he has been let down on times by Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly's erratic consistency.

Varane's record at the Bernabeu suggests he'll be a better bet in that department, with his efforts helping Madrid win a slew of trophies over the last decade.
