Manchester United: Antoine Griezmann linked

As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans his way to the Premier League summit, Manchester United has been linked with a deal for Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann might be one of the first-team stars sacrificed as a result of the La Liga giants' need to generate finances this summer due to their poor financial condition.

DON'T MISS:

According to Sport, Manchester United is one of several clubs interested in signing the 30-year-old, with Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus, and Manchester City also expressing an interest.

Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as United manager two and a half years ago, the 20-time English champions have tried to avoid acquiring aging veterans on hefty contracts.

Instead, the Norwegian tactician has placed a high priority on bringing in young talent who can grow and develop at the club, and he has had great success doing so.

Griezmann's arrival would thus be a return to United's old strategy of bringing in established names, which saw the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Radamel Falcao, and Bastian Schweinsteiger struggle to make an impression at Old Trafford.

However, the World Cup-winning striker has shown in recent months for both club and country that he still possesses world-class quality on the greatest platform.

DON'T MISS:

Griezmann had numerous great performances for Didier Deschamps' side, scoring one goal, providing 2.5 critical passes per game – the highest tally among his teammates – and recording an impressive 7.17 WhoScored rating despite France being knocked out of Euro 2020 in the first knockout round.

His strong summer efforts for Les Bleus followed a great season for Barcelona.

Greizmann scored 20 goals and added 13 assists for the Catalan club in all competitions, winning the Copa del Rey in the process, demonstrating the £54 million-rated star's world-class potential.

As a result, the report that United is interested in signing the Barcelona midfielder will undoubtedly excite a big portion of the club's fan base. Ander Herrera, an ex-United player, once called him a "phenomenon," and his inclusion to Solsjaer's squad would be a big boost.

Although recruiting players in their thirties isn't a long-term solution, it could be the ideal method to bridge the gap between now and next season's Manchester City, allowing Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Jadon Sancho to hone their skills while potentially winning some silverware.
