Man Utd willing to steal show with huge attacking signing – but there’s an if

According to rumours, Manchester United is open to the prospect of signing Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona — but only on the proper terms.

Griezmann joined Barcelona in 2019 after the Catalan club pursued him for a long time. Despite his great scoring record, though, the transfer has not gone as smoothly as they had intended. Griezmann's tenure with Barcelona could be coming to an end after 35 goals in 99 games.

DON'T MISS:

The La Liga giants must cut their pay bill as soon as possible. Griezmann is one of their highest-paid players and is thus a likely replacement. They now have enough depth up front to cope without him, thanks to the recent additions of Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay.

Griezmann, who previously spent five successful seasons with Atletico Madrid, has been linked with a return to the Spanish city. A exchange with Saul Niguez, whom Atleti is attempting to dump, may be part of such a deal.

However, it looks that the transfer will not take place, prompting Barcelona to seek alternative options for Griezmann.

DON'T MISS:

They could give him or centre-back Samuel Umtiti to Manchester United in a possible swap deal for Paul Pogba, according to reports earlier this week. Despite their financial woes, Barcelona still wants to make a statement acquisition and believes that acquiring the midfielder will be reasonably simple.

Pogba's contract expires in 12 months, so he might make a move that sends one of his French teammates in the opposite direction.

United is attempting to recruit Raphael Varane in defense, thus Griezmann appears to be more important to them than Umtiti. In fact, it has recently been reported that they are interested in signing the former Real Sociedad striker.

Griezmann would benefit from a move to the Premier League, according to Diario Sport, and United would be interested in his talents.

However, according to the article, they would only consider signing him if the conditions were ideal. They wouldn't want to over-commit in terms of price or income, right?

They are, however, in a strong enough position to afford Griezmann if he is truly desired.

It's worth noticing that there's no mention of a possible Pogba trade.

Chelsea is still being cited as a possible Griezmann suitor.

Chelsea and Juventus are also said to be interested in signing the 30-year-old. Recent reports, however, have knocked the Blues, as well as Manchester City, out of contention.

Chelsea are still hunting for a striker after Timo Werner's debut season failed to justify his high price tag. A variety of names are still being considered, with Erling Haaland being the favorite. However, there are differing opinions on whether Griezmann is one of them.

Barcelona is unconcerned about where he ends up as long as he is taken off their payroll as quickly as feasible.

Griezmann might be a useful addition for United, who have Edinson Cavani as their main centre-forward and Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood as further alternatives. But they need to think about it before committing to anything.
