According to Marca, Manchester United has made a £43 million proposal for Raphael Varane and is willing to pay £21 million for Eduardo Camavinga as part of a remarkable double swoop.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is attempting to assemble a team capable of winning big trophies next season, and he has already begun his summer shopping binge by agreeing to a £73 million deal with Borussia Dortmund for attacker Jadon Sancho.
DON'T MISS:
The Norwegian coach, though, is trying to bolster his midfield, and Camavinga has been heavily connected with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, with reports claiming he's been identified as a target.
Man United's attempts to capture the 18-year-old wunderkin are progressing, according to Fabrizio Romano, and it looks they're now ready to formalize their interest with an opening offer.
Manchester United is expected to make a proposal of roughly £21 million [€25 million] for Camavinga, according to Marca, and are well-positioned to win the competition for his signature, since Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain no longer consider him a priority.
Rennes may be obliged to sell Camavinga this summer if he does not sign a new contract soon, but it is unclear whether £21 million will be enough to persuade them to do so.
Camavinga is one of the best young talents in European football and would be a fantastic long-term addition to Solskjaer's squad if he could be acquired for anywhere near that price.
United is also interested in bringing in another central defender, as Solskjaer seeks a top-flight partner for Harry Maguire, despite doubts about Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, and Axel Tuanzebe.
DON'T MISS:
Varane has recently been regarded as their top target, with ESPN stating last week that United was feeling more optimistic in their ability to sign the Frenchman this summer after conversations with Real Madrid.
It appears Manchester United has already registered their interest as Marca believes they’ve presented a £43m [€50m] offer and ESPN suggest that could be enough to get a deal approved with the Spanish giants.
The 28-year-contract old's expires in a year and he shows no signs of renewing it, so Madrid will have to sell him this summer if they don't want to lose him for free in a year.
Varane has been one of Europe's top center-backs in recent years, and he'd be a fantastic signing for United if they can bring him to Old Trafford this summer.
We’ll have to wait and see how thing develops over the coming days but it looks like Man Utd are hoping to pull off a potential £64m double swoop and we think Camavinga and Varane would be superb additions to their squad.
