Man Utd starlet signs new deal before leaving on loan

Di'Shon Bernard, a Manchester United youth, has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 20-year-old center-back has participated in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's pre-season camp.

In order to get more experience, he will now spend the 2021/22 season on loan with Championship side Hull City.

At the KCOM stadium, Bernard becomes Grant McCann's sixth summer signing.

Three free agents, as well as Ryan Longman on loan from Brighton and Nathan Baxter on loan from Chelsea, have already joined the Tigers.

Bernard told BBC Radio Humberside after the deal was confirmed: "I'm very thrilled to join Hull City and hopefully it will be a very good season for us."

DON'T MISS:

“They're a great club that used to be in the Premier League, and hopefully they'll be able to get back there, and I'll be able to help them get there.

“I think they (the supporters) should expect me to be a really aggressive player who brings the ball out, plays through the lines, and is very outspoken.

“They may expect a lot from me because I'm a shot-blocker.”

“The fact he's been in the Manchester United first team for the past few weeks and been part of their pre-season plans shows how highly they think of him,” McCann told Hull's official website.

DON'T MISS:

“After spoken with Michael Carrick and a couple of other individuals at Man Utd and Salford, I believe the youngster is on the right track.

“He has a lot of skills; he's quick, good with the ball, aggressive in his play, wants to play on the front foot, and likes to drive forward.”

Bernard, who can also play right back if necessary, has been with Man Utd since he was 16 years old.

He played in pre-season friendlies for the Red Devils against Derby County and QPR.

This is the player's second loan term in his career.

Last season, he played 29 times for Salford in League Two, scoring two goals. He contributed to the club's eighth-place finish in the table with 71 points.
