Man United close to finalising deal with him

Man United close to finalising deal with him

Man United isn't wasting any time this summer, with the Red Devils putting in a strong bid for Raphael Varane.

Manchester United has moved on to other targets as Jadon Sancho's move to Old Trafford is almost complete. Raphael Varane is often mentioned as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's top aim at center-back.

DON'T MISS:

If this latest claim proves to be accurate, Solskjaer must be dreaming... Varane could be on his way to United, according to ESPN's Mark Ogden.

United are reported ‘close to sealing' a deal to recruit the £172-a-week star (pay indication), whose contract expires in just a year.

Varane is Solskjaer's main defensive target, according to reports, and United is "ready to move" for the Frenchman after receiving encouragement from Real Madrid, which is willing to negotiate a "reasonable amount" to let the player depart.

DON'T MISS:

According to ESPN, the transaction has no timetable in place, while conversations between United and Varane are already begun. United considered Sevilla's Pau Torres as a possible replacement, but Varane's pursuit has now stepped up.'

Real Madrid is in a precarious situation. Either sell Varane now, while his value is still high, or risk losing him for nothing next summer. Los Blancos appear to have selected the former option.

The Spanish giants are looking to raise funds so that Carlo Ancelotti can rebuild his squad, and United is now optimistic that a move for Varane can be completed for under £42 million. That feels like a complete bargain in today's market for a player of his caliber.

Be mindful of interest from Paris Saint-Germain, who would almost certainly match the asking price in a hurry, whereas the French giants might easily go toe-to-toe in terms of weekly income.

But what a signing this would be!
