His statistics show he’s amongst Brazil’s top performers

His statistics show he’s amongst Brazil’s top performers

Fred, a Manchester United player, has quietly been in fine form for Brazil at the Copa America, offering plenty of motivation ahead of the new season.

Despite receiving much criticism during his time at Old Trafford, the industrious midfielder is undoubtedly more well-liked in his homeland.

DON'T MISS:

Fred was recalled to the Brazilian team following his several appearances for United this season, and he hasn't left since.

Since landing in South America, he has been a regular for his country and is an important player for them.

Some fans have suggested that Fred isn't being used to his full potential at Old Trafford, and it looks like that notion is correct.

Fred's resurgence continuing at international level: started and completed Brazil's quarter-final win over Peru. He's now started in all but one (when he was rested) of their five Copa America games and started both World Cup qualifiers last month. #mufc

DON'T MISS:

The Peoples Person published an article about how Tite was making better use of Fred by playing him in a three-man midfield or making him the more attacking of a midfield two.

His statistics imply he would be ideal in a box-to-box role, and on the rare occasions when he is given such duty at Manchester United, he flourishes.

Most, if not all, of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midfielders, are experts who would be better suited to a midfield three rather than a two.

It might also be claimed that none of them, with the exception of Nemanja Matic, are natural holding midfielders, which explains why the engine room has been so hesitant recently.

Scott McTominay also played for Scotland at the Euros, thus the Fred-Scott McTominay partnership, which was widely criticized at club level, may need to be reconsidered.

Perhaps they aren't being deployed properly because Solskjaer prefers a strong, combative midfield to shield an otherwise vulnerable defense.
