Andros Townsend believes that if Manchester United can sign Raphael Varane this summer, they will be able to take the club to the next level.
The French defender's Real Madrid contract expires in 12 months, and Manchester United is in talks to lure him away from the Santiago Bernabeu during the current transfer season.

Varane is rumored to be exploring a change of scenery and has been in contact with the Red Devils about a summer swap.
Manchester United believes they can get him for €50 million, and Townsend believes his presence will be a game-changer for the club.
He believes Manchester United's attacking options are sufficient, and Varane's addition of pace, power and world-class skill to their defense could propel them to the next level.

“If you look at Man United's team, they are quite a top-heavy upfront,” Townsend stated on talkSPORT.
“They have a lot of attacking options, and Jadon Sancho would add to that, but Varane will reinforce the back four if he comes in.
He'll provide them with greater strength and speed, and someone of his caliber is more suited to the Premier League.
“He is large, strong, and quick, and I believe the Varane one will get them closer to where they want to be.”
Varane is yet to take a call on his future and has not ruled out staying at Real Madrid despite Manchester United’s efforts.
