Fabrizio Romano delivers update about this Man Utd star amid Man United talk

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid intends to hold talks with Raphael Varane regarding his future following the completion of Euro 2020, amid speculation linking the defender with a move to Manchester United this summer.

The future of the 28-year-old center-back has been a topic of discussion in recent weeks, with reports suggesting he could leave Real Madrid this summer.

DON'T MISS:

Varane's Real Madrid contract is set to expire in the summer of 2022, meaning he may leave the Spanish club on a free transfer the following year if he does not sign a new deal.

Manchester United is said to be interested in signing the France international as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bolster his defensive options ahead of next season.

Now, according to noted Italian journalist Romano, Real Madrid will hold negotiations with Varane about his future in the next days, although the defender wants to leave the Spanish club.

“Real Madrid are still working on the Varane situation,” Romano remarked on the Here We Go podcast on June 30.

“After the Euros, they'll speak directly with Varane to see if he's interested in extending his contract. They'll try to persuade Varane once more.

DON'T MISS:

“According to what I've heard, Varane still wants to quit the club. He'd like to try something new. He is not trying to press the situation, but after winning everything with Real Madrid, he wants to try something fresh.

“Manchester United is interested in signing Varane in England. He may join PSG in another country, such as [France]. They'll need a center-back if [Sergio] Ramos isn't signed.”

Varane played in all four of France's Euro 2020 games and scored two goals in 31 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid last season.
