According to Football Insider, Kieran Tripper has told his England colleagues that he expects to join Man United this summer.
The 30-year-old full-back is a key target for the 20-time Premier League champions as they try to bolster their defensive options this summer.
Trippier has made it known to pals, notably those in the England squad, that he wants to return to the Premier League and is likely to finish up at Old Trafford, according to a recruitment source.
As the former Man City academy product and Burnley player prepares to return to the north-west, he has already started looking for a home.
On the 9th of June, Football Insider reported that Atletico Madrid had turned down a £10 million opening offer from United.
Following rumors that the La Liga winners want more than £30 million for the full-back, they are set to return with a better offer.
Trippier reaches 31 in September and is in the final two years of his deal, so United is unlikely to pay that.
Despite this, he reinforced his reputation with a strong performance in the unfamiliar left-back position in England's 1-0 Euros victory over Croatia on Sunday.
Trippier joined Diego Simeone's side from Tottenham for roughly £22 million in the summer of 2019.
He then went on the attack against Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy, claiming that they neglected to disclose their intent to sell him.
Trippier has made 68 appearances for Atletico Madrid in two seasons, proving to be a wise signing.
In other news, Manchester United is closing in on a blockbuster signing after terms were agreed on over the weekend.
