Manchester United must swoop for him this summer

Manchester United must swoop for him this summer

As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United has been linked with a bid for Leicester City midfielder Your Tielemans.

The Red Devils are interested in securing the 24-year-services old's after an impressive 2020/21 campaign, according to Belgian reporter Sven Claes, who closely follows the newest developments of his compatriots across Europe.

ON'T MISS:

The journalist said in an interview with The Empire of the Kop that the Liverpool target is getting admiring views from fellow Premier League giants United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tries to construct a title-winning squad.

“Tielemans will have to make a difficult decision. Claes told EOTK Insider, "The tears speak for themselves after earning the POTY prize two weeks ago."

“I expect him to leave yes when he has a successful Euros performance. I suppose he is ready for a new challenge or stride forward. It's a true prodigy with a fantastic mentality both on and off the field.

“Manchester United and a top Spanish team have already expressed interest in him. He had a rough time at AS Monaco in the past, but in Leicester, everyone noticed his true capabilities once more. I believe we will hear more about his future plans in the near future.”

Last season, Tielemans was the main player for the Foxes, who won their first FA Cup and ended a solid sixth in the Premier League table.

Brendan Rodgers faces a battle to keep his finest asset after his strong performances have drawn the attention of the continent's elite teams.

ON'T MISS:

After achieving a second consecutive top-four finish for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, United are weighing their options, with some major names connected to the 10-time English champions.

Many have noted the need for a new right-winger and central defender in Manchester's red half, but with Paul Pogba due to finish his contract in the next 12 months, the demand for a midfield conductor may be stronger than ever.

Since Michael Carrick's retirement in 2018, the club has arguably failed to replace him. For many years, he was United's heartbeat, directing the speed and setting the pace for his teammates to follow.

Pogba's passing range makes him the most evocative of the current United coach, while Tielemans' skill set is considerably closer to that of the former England international than Pogba will ever be.

Claes estimates the Belgium star's worth at roughly £56 million, and the guy previously dubbed "class" by former Leicester defender Steve Howey would bolster United's prospects of ending their eight-year Premier League title drought next season.

United should do everything possible to bring the Belgian to Old Trafford.
