Man Utd transfer round-up: Kieran Tripper bid rejected but Raphael Varane boost received

Manchester United's plan to fight for the Premier League title next season clearly necessitates the addition of numerous new players at Old Trafford.

In the summer transfer window, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to improve a number of critical areas.

DON'T MISS:

That includes defense, where Harry Maguire requires a new partner and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka requires excellent competition.

United has also sought to sign Europe's top young prospects, such as Amad, as part of its long-term planning.

Manchester United have identified Kieran Trippier as a top target for the summer transfer window.

After observing the beneficial influence that Alex Telles' signing has had on Luke Shaw, the Red Devils are looking to give competition for current first-choice Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Trippier would also present United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a more attacking right-back option.

DON'T MISS:

The Englishman made an impression at Atletico Madrid, as he quickly established himself as Diego Simeone's first choice right-back as the team won La Liga.

However, United's pursuit of the 30-year-old appears to have been hampered after their initial proposal was reportedly rejected.

According to the news outlet, the Red Devils bid around £10 million for the England international.

Manchester United's aspirations of signing highly-rated Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba have been struck a significant setback.

Since being promoted from the academy, Moriba has made an impression for Ronald Koeman's side and is regarded as one of their budding talents.

However, the Spaniard is entering the final year of his contract at the Nou Camp, which has drawn United's attention.

They claim that the Catalan club has already taken steps to extend Moriba's stay in Barcelona, and that a deal will be hammered out in a meeting next week.

He is expected to sign a three-year contract and become a permanent part of the first squad, potentially replacing Gini Wijnaldum, who would have joined the club had he been available.

Center-back is one of the primary areas where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to improve ahead of next season.

Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have yet to show that they can be long-term partners for Harry Maguire.

With that in mind, United has identified Raphael Varane as one of their main summer targets, with the Frenchman set to leave the Bernabeu.

Varane has established himself as one of the top defenders in the world during his time with Madrid, but he is refusing to sign a new contract, which expires next year.

Los Blancos are willing to sell the 28-year-old defender, but have set a £60 million price tag on him.

However, after United's refusal to pay that high price, Mundo Deportivo reports that Madrid has reduced the price to around £43 million.
