Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that the team must improve if they are to be truly competitive next season.
United did finish second in the Premier League, but they were a long way behind eventual champions Man City, finishing 12 points behind them.
The manager admitted that the starting XI will need to be strengthened by fresh recruits after the team's defeat in the Europa League final.
"I ve been delighted with all of the players' work, passion, and drive; I can't criticize them at all," Solskjaer said in Gdansk. “However, as I have stated, we need two or three players to enhance the starting XI and the group as a whole if we are to go any further.
“I'm sure our adversaries or competitors will want to improve as well, and we want to improve as much as possible."
Ronaldo extends his hand.
Representatives for Cristiano Ronaldo are currently in contact with several of Europe's elite teams to evaluate their interest in the Portuguese legend.
The 36-year-current old's contract with Juventus has one year left on it, but he may try to leave during the upcoming transfer window.
Ronaldo's entourage has contacted three clubs, including Manchester United.
Along with United, PSG and Real Madrid have been approached, though it is still unclear whether he will leave Turin.
After Euro 2020, where Ronaldo hopes to lead Portugal to triumph, he plans to meet with newly appointed Massimiliano Allegri.
For Saul, the United States is ‘in the race.'
In the race to recruit Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, Solskjaer's team has emerged as a potential opponent.
Saul is reportedly 'desperate' to quit the Wanda Metropolitano after falling down the pecking order in 2020/21, according to reports in Spain.
In total, the Spaniard made just 22 starts as Diego Simeone's side won La Liga by defeating Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Saul is determined to go and has listed Manchester United and Chelsea as prospective suitors.
He has a £129 million (€150 million) release clause in his contract, but with the deal expiring in 2026, the club would accept an offer of roughly £69 million (€80 million).
Chelsea's position on Haaland
Chelsea's management team has refused to rule out a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
Since Solskjaer's unsuccessful attempt to sign him in 2020, the Norwegian has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.
The 20-year-old is likely to cost more than £150 million after a stellar season in the Bundesliga.
Despite the fact that Edinson Cavani's contract has been extended, United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out the prospect of signing another striker in the coming window.
But if they want to sign Haaland, they'll have to beat Chelsea to it, who are looking at making a move.
According to the Telegraph, with Thomas Tuchel prioritizing a striker, they are unwilling to give up on Haaland until all options have been exhausted
