Manchester United may be planning another raid on Leicester City, two years after acquiring Harry Maguire.

Manchester United is expected to begin talks with Leicester City over a possible transfer for Caglar Soyuncu, according to reports. The Red Devils are rumored to be interested in Raphael Varane, a center-back. However, it appears that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also on the lookout for a quality partner for Harry Maguire.

Manchester United are looking for a new center-back.

With Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, and Axel Tuanzebe all suffering for consistency, Solskjaer knows his team needs to improve if they are to compete with Manchester City for the Premier League crown.

United would prefer to improve other areas of their squad, but right now, center-back is one of their top concerns.

Varane has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid, particularly as his contract at the Bernabeu is set to end next year.

Manchester United have added Caglar Soguncu (sic) to their transfer list as they continue their quest for a goalkeeper,” he wrote on Twitter.

Discussions with Leicester City are expected to begin soon.

“At Chelsea, he is closely following Caglar Soyuncu.”

When it comes to recruiting the Leicester player - who helped the Foxes win the FA Cup last season - United appears to be up against Chelsea.

But, if the Maguire case from two years ago is any indication, harsh discussions are to be expected.

United attempted to negotiate for Maguire with Leicester in 2018, but were unable to bring him to Old Trafford, before snatching him up a year later.

However, talks with Leicester dragged on throughout the summer transfer season, and they weren't able to get the center-back to Old Trafford until just before deadline day.

For the time being, Varane appears to be the better option.

United, though, are hoping to recruit a number of other players in order to win the Premier League for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

Overall, Jadon Sancho is their main target, and reports from the weekend claim the club is on the verge of signing the Borussia Dortmund star, four years after they first attempted.

Declan Rice of West Ham is a United fan, and Solskjaer has wanted to sign Jack Grealish for a long time.

And, up top, the Red Devils haven't ruled out a return for Cristiano Ronaldo, despite the fact that it appears doubtful.

However, United legend Wes Brown recently stated that only three new signings were required to close the gap on City and challenge them for the major trophies on offer.

“In the last 12 months or so, I've clearly witnessed an improvement at Manchester United,” he remarked.

“On their day, they can beat any team in the world; yet, I believe they struggle to win games that they are expected to win.

“I think we were guilty of being a little short in midfield at times, and the back-line has altered a lot this season. Normally, your two center halves are established in stone, and you work your way out from there.

“With a new centre-back, a midfielder, and a striker, Ole should be looking at three important areas where he can bolster the first-team.

“The club also needs to lose a few players, which I understand is often easier said than done, but they need to make way for newcomers.

“They absolutely require a reliable midfielder who can play week in and week out.

“I thought the club did okay up forward last season, but I still think they need a big name up front, especially if Anthony Martial isn't available.

“We really suffered if one of our attackers took even the tiniest knock. 'Where is our Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?' you wonder as you wander around the bench. That player who has the ability to make a difference. All that is required is a little more depth in that area.

“Last season, I think I went to every home game, and I have to say, it was a bit frustrating at times.

“The team looked magnificent away from home, as if they were playing without fear, but they seemed to suffer at home.

“We never really got into a rhythm; but, if that changes, it'll be a whole different story.” You'd like to think that the return of the fans will have a beneficial impact on the outcomes at Old Trafford next season.”
