According to Football Insider, Leicester City are close to signing Man United starlet Chris Popov after striking an agreement in principle on a contract.
Following a breakthrough in discussions, the FA Cup holders are putting the finishing touches on the move of the 16-year-old Welshman.
Popov is set to sign an initial scholarship arrangement that will be transformed into a three-year professional contract when he is 17 years old, according to a recruitment source.
That won't happen until October, with the initial idea being for him to join the Under-18s before progressing to the Under-23s.
Popov was on trial with Leicester last season, but his registration is still with United.
The 20-time Premier League champions have extended new terms to the teenage forward, but a prospective move to the King Power Stadium has piqued his interest.
Leicester City's young players have a clear path from development to the first team, and the club has established itself as a top destination for young talent.
In the midst of a flurry of transfer activity at the club, his predicted transfer to the Foxes might go through on July 1st.
Leicester has also agreed to acquire 19-year-old Hartlepool goalkeeper Brad Young, as Football Insider reported on June 18th.
It's another potential coup, as he's being courted by a number of prominent Premier League clubs, including Chelsea.
Leicester is also aiming to improve its senior team.
Left-back Ryan Bertrand, central midfielder Boukary Soumare, and forward Patson Daka are all close to signing contracts.
In other news, Wolves are planning a move for Leicester City's £13 million star as a window of opportunity opens.
