He actually destroys Harry Kane with damning assessment on transfer plan

He actually destroys Harry Kane with damning assessment on transfer plan

England will not be able to win Euro 2020 with a 'distracted' Roy Keane, according to him. Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer, according to reports.

For the second time this tournament, Kane put in a tired performance as Scotland drew 0-0 at Wembley on Friday. In the second half, the Three Lions manager benched his captain. That's after just getting ten touches in the first half. When he was eventually withdrawn for Marcus Rashford, he had completed only 63 percent of his passes.

Despite the arrival of his fellow forward, England was unable to find the decisive goal.

While Raheem Sterling was also not at his best, Kane's lack of coordination appears to be a major problem. He has yet to put a shot on target in two games at Euro 2020.

Now, according to Keane, Kane must rip his finger out if England is to win the World Cup.

On ITV, Keane commented, "He doesn't look up to speed." “He's always on his heels, and if England is serious about competing in this tournament, you need your great players to deliver.

“They need Kane at his best, as we've seen [Romelu] Lukaku, [Kevin] De Bruyne, and [Cristiano] Ronaldo.

“It's a good thing Gareth [Southgate] got rid of him. There's talk about his being undroppable; he's the star, so get him off the stage if he's not performing. Rashford gave them a little more oomph, but it wasn't quite enough.”

Kane is also likely to be distracted by speculation over his future, according to Keane.

Kane, 27, said last month that he is dissatisfied by Tottenham's lack of silverware and that he is considering leaving the club. Both Manchester United and Manchester City have been identified as potential suitors, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been suggested.

As a result, Keane believes the rumors are weighing on his mind.

“There was a lot of speculation before the tournament that he may leave Spurs. “Perhaps that has distracted him since that may be an energy zapper,” Keane continued.

“It's not beneficial if you think you're switching clubs or if you're in talks with other clubs.”

Graeme Souness concurred with his appraisal of Kane.

“Harry doesn't appear to be himself; he appears sleazy and tired,” Souness remarked.

“This is a guy who is aiming for a huge promotion this summer; he needs to get his act together. Is he carrying something since he left the first game? Because he appears to be a doppelganger.

“He is England's only player who has shown he can score goals on a consistent basis at this level, and if that isn't happening in this competition, you're not going very far.

“Without Harry Kane, I can tell you that football isn't going to come home with that club, not the way they're playing.”

Kane's substitution is explained by Southgate.

Southgate was questioned about why he took Kane off in his post-match interview with ITV Sport.

“I just felt like we needed a few more runs in behind, and we thought Marcus would provide that energy, and we had to try and win at that point,” he explained.

“However, we must base our decisions on what we see.”

When asked what Kane was missing from his game after winning the Premier League's top scorer and top assister honours last season, Southgate claimed that it was more than the striker's personal play that was to blame.

He continued, "Well, we can look at ourselves, and it starts with me."

“We know we didn't do enough to win tonight, we didn't have enough shots on goal, so that's something we'll look at over the next few days.”
