Frank LeBoeuf has questioned whether Raphael Varane would want to leave Real Madrid this summer to join Manchester United.

As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tries to enhance his defensive options ahead of next season, a number of prospective acquisitions at centre-back have been connected with the Red Devils this summer.

Manchester United are rumored to be on the search for a long-term defensive partner for Harry Maguire as they prepare to fight for the Premier League next season.

Varane, a France international, has been identified as a possible target for the Red Devils this summer, with his future up in the air due to his Real Madrid contract expiring next summer.

However, with Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since 2013, LeBoeuf doubts that the French defender would be as enthusiastic about a move to Old Trafford.

“We know the history of Man United, but we're talking about the past,” LeBoeuf told ESPN FC.

“They finished second in the league, but I'm not sure it's a realistic objective for everyone to go to Manchester United right now unless they bring in three or four big recruits to fight Manchester City and Liverpool next season.

“I'm not sure what Raphael Varane's goal is, but I'd like to know before moving to Manchester United.”

Varane scored two goals in 31 La Liga games for Real Madrid last season, while on international duty with France at Euro 2020.

Under Solskjaer, Manchester United finished second last season without winning a trophy.
