Jesse Lingard is expected to join West Ham United soon, according to David Moyes.
According to The Sun, West Ham are ready to step up their pursuit of Manchester United's Jesse Lingard on a permanent basis.
Lingard, 28, has been dismissed from international duty by England, according to the tabloid, after failing to join Gareth Southgate's squad for the 2019 European Championships.
David Moyes is believed to be hoping to reach an agreement with Man United on a permanent deal shortly, while a West Ham insider is quoted as saying: “Jesse knows we want him, so ideally the club will pursue him in the next month or so.”
Complete the task.
It would be wicked for West Ham to enter next season without Lingard, but we wouldn't rule out the possibility that the club's owners let us and Moyes down by failing to sign England forward.
Lingard had a fantastic loan stay at the London Stadium last season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 games.
He was important in our qualification for Europe, and if it hadn't been for significant injuries in the squad, we would almost certainly be in the Champions League next season.
There's no doubt that West Ham fans will be salivating at the thought of Lingard returning to the London Stadium on a permanent basis, especially if a deal is struck in the coming weeks or month, as the insider claimed.
Lingard must be Moyes' first priority this summer, but he must also have other options when it comes to bolstering the squad.
A new center-forward is an absolute essential, and it's a little depressing that no significant movement has been made in that regard.
However, because the transfer window started today (Wednesday), we may finally see some movement in terms of buying a new striker and welcome Lingard back to East London.
In other West Ham news, a player who is set to leave the club is in talks to join a European team, with a deal likely to be reached soon.
