Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are intensifying negotiations for Jadon Sancho, with the German club lowering their asking price to €90 million (£77 million).
The Red Devils spent the majority of last summer attempting – and failing – to lure the England international away from Dortmund, but the Bundesliga giants refused to budge on their €120 million (£103 million) asking price.
That fee would have been United's largest ever transfer and the Premier League's record arrival, but an agreement could not be reached, and Sancho remained in Germany.
Twelve months later, the 21-year-old is once again United's top target, though there is growing optimism that a deal will be reached soon – perhaps even before the Euros begin.
According to the German publication SPORT1, negotiations are heating up and they are getting closer to a deal on a £77 million transfer.
Dortmund have significantly reduced their asking price from last year, and the new asking price may even be considered a bargain in today's market, especially after Sancho had another stellar season.
In just 26 Bundesliga appearances, the winger scored eight goals and provided 11 assists, averaging a goal involvement every 108 minutes, and he added 11 more goals and assists in the Champions League and DFB Pokal Cup.
According to SPORT1, all parties are hopeful that a deal will be reached, and Sancho has already verbally agreed on personal terms with United.
For several years, a new right-winger has been one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's top priorities, and United appear to be on track to have Sancho in place well before the start of pre-season training after the Euros.
He is not the only player linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, with United also looking for a new centre-back – they have been linked with Villarreal's Pau Torres and Real Madrid's Raphael Varane – and are in talks with Atletico Madrid for right-back Kieran Trippier.
