Tottenham Hotspur is interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Anthony Martial, according to the Daily Mail.

Tottenham have reportedly been making plans to replace Kane for some time, with the club believing he will leave this summer.

DON'T MISS:

Tottenham should have been unsurprised to learn last night that he has reportedly asked to leave the club.

According to the Mail, Spurs have been preparing for this possibility for quite some time.

Surprisingly, they claim that United's Martial and Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus are being considered as potential swap partners.

United and City are both interested in Kane, and Spurs may be willing to accept a player in a swap deal.

Martial appears to be an intriguing option, and it is a move that would almost certainly not have occurred if Jose Mourinho had remained in charge.

Mourinho managed Martial at United, but the two did not get along.

DON'T MISS:

Mourinho said of the Frenchman to Bleacher Report, "They lack maturity." And, to be clear, when I say maturity, I mean personal maturity.

“We're talking about Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, Lingard, and Marcus Rashford—young players with a lot of potentials, but at the end of the day, it results in the word I can't say [cojones], but you use it a lot here...

They are lacking in character and personality.”

According to the Times, Mourinho thought Martial was mentally weak.

If Martial were to join Spurs, he would be stepping into big shoes.

The £58 million forward (BBC) has shown flashes of brilliance at United, but his lack of consistency has frustrated many managers.

If he joins Tottenham, he will be given a run of games up front, where he feels most comfortable, but to cover for Kane, he will have to deliver at a level he has previously found difficult to sustain throughout his career.
