Solskjaer, Klopp react as protestors ‘let down tyres on Liverpool coach’

Liverpool FC's coach had a rough trip to Old Trafford on Thursday evening, according to reports, after anti-Glazer protesters stopped the bus and let down its tyres.

The first match, on May 2, was called off after anti-Glazer protesters stormed the stadium and into the field. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's players were stranded in the squad hotel as a result.

In order to prevent more chaos, the United team arrived at Old Trafford at about 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Jurgen Klopp's players, on the other hand, seem to have had their path disrupted.

The bus took off at 6 p.m., as backers started their anti-Glazer protest outside Old Trafford.

Fans made their way from the forecourt outside the East Stand across the perimeter to the gate, where the Liverpool team coach was waiting.

Police set up a fence to prevent fans on Wharfside Way from coming even closer.

The stadium was briefly closed down, but the Liverpool squad was able to arrive. They arrived at Old Trafford shortly after 6.45 p.m., 90 minutes before kickoff.

“We are mindful of a rally currently taking place outside Old Trafford football stadium, with a limited group of individuals apparently bent on stopping the fixture,” said Greater Manchester Police in a tweet.

“Officers are present to ensure public protection but still promoting the right to lawful dissent. Two convictions have been issued in connection with civil order violations.”

Solskjaer clarified that his players came early to prevent any problems and that their sole attention is on the field.

“The boys have been concentrated. We arrived a little earlier, but we had brunch, talks, and a pre-match meal as normal, so we're happy to play football,” he told Sky Sports.

“The earlier monitoring period was a bit different, but the players have done an excellent job of changing and adapting.”Klopp declined to dwell on the problems, thus repeating Solskjaer's rhetoric.

“I'm very looking forward to this,” he said. “This game would be fantastic if it could be played on the moon. It is considered to be one of the greatest games in history. We're going to get the work done. The boys have arrived to begin work, and I am very excited about it.”
