Harry Maguire is unlikely to be fit for Manchester United's Europa League final against Villarreal on Wednesday night, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils will face Unai Emery's side as they look to cap off an impressive season with a major trophy.

Manchester United finished second in the Premier League under Solskjaer, improving on their third-place finish the previous season.

Maguire has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury in Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Aston Villa earlier this month, and he is in a race against time to be fit for the Europa League final this week.

Solskjaer has now revealed that the Red Devils will give Maguire as much time as possible to prove his fitness before the match, but he admits that the England international is unlikely to be available.

Solskjaer stated in an interview with Metro, "To be honest, I don't think we'll see him in Gdansk, no, but as I've said so many times, I'm going to give him until Tuesday night, the last training session, to see if he can try to be out there."

“He's improving slowly but steadily, but ligaments take time to heal.”

In addition, Solskjaer stated that Anthony Martial is working hard to be ready for the match against Villarreal.

“Harry and Anthony are still working hard to be ready for the final,” he added. Of course, they've been available for quite some time.

“We're resting and recovering with him [Harry]. He is not yet at the point where he can work hard. He's starting to walk on it, but it's still a long way from walking to playing football.”

Manchester United advanced to the Europa League final with a semi-final victory over AS Roma.
