Tim Sherwood believes that recruiting Erling Haaland or Harry Kane will make Manchester United championship contenders, but that their worst error was allowing a striker of that caliber to leave in the first place.
United have declared a striker their highest choice this summer, with Haaland at the top of their list and Kane as an alternative.
DON'T MISS:
Sherwood told Premier League productions that even if seasoned forward Edinson Cavani stays, United would also require another striker since he would not be able to play every game.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager claim that getting in a player like Haaland or Kane would provide them with a top striker whilst also enabling Cavani's presence and expertise to rub off on younger players.
Sherwood, on the other hand, said that United already had a forward of that caliber in the shape of Romelu Lukaku and that selling the Belgian star to Inter Milan was their greatest transfer blunder.
"What they do need is a center-forward, they're going to need that," he added.
DON'T MISS:
They had anyone, and getting rid of Romelu Lukaku, who is now on fire at Inter Milan, was the greatest mistake they've ever created.
"Because of his limited playing time, Edinson Cavani might not be the solution to challenge Man City, but I believe he is fantastic for the younger players.
It's fantastic for Rashford, Greenwood, and Martial to be able to see him in training every day because what he does is an art.
"Who would Manchester United sign this summer? Is it Haaland, or Kane?
"If they have one of those two in, they'll be out there fighting for the Premier League championship next year."
