Man Utd depending on 'act of generosity' to secure his transfer

Manchester United's offer to sign Cristiano Ronaldo is reliant on an act of kindness.

The Red Devils are expected to sign the 36-year-old midfielder and carry him back to the team he quit in 2009.

After joining Real Madrid from Manchester United, Ronaldo went on to establish himself as one of the greatest footballers of all time by winning a slew of trophies.

They provide four more Ballon d'Ors to go with his solo win in 2008, as well as four Champions League medals to go with his 2008 term.

As he joined Juventus in 2018, he was expected to propel the Italian giants to European glory.

But it hasn't happened, because if anything, Juve has gotten worse, losing the Serie A title to Inter Milan.

And there's a possibility they won't even qualify for the Champions League, which Ronaldo wants to earn one final time before retirement.

With the odds of that happening at Juventus slim, the seasoned forward is looking to leave the club and pursue one that can fulfill his dream.

Ronaldo's boss, Jorge Mendes, has confirmed that there are no interesting proposals on the table, but his mother would like him to sign with Sporting Lisbon, the team where he rose through the ranks.

However, according to Tuttosport through Sport Witness, it will necessitate a significant act of charity, as the Portuguese club, who were proclaimed Primeira Liga champions this week, do not have anything close enough to cover his €30 million-a-year salary.

As a consequence, Ronaldo's pay expectations will have to be greatly reduced, otherwise he could consider moving to United, which could cover his salaries.

But if they will is debatable, with the more plausible possibility being that anywhere the five-time Ballon d'Or winner heads, his salary would suffer.
