Man United handed boost in race to get long-time target – Price ‘has significantly lowered’ this season

Man United handed boost in race to get long-time target – Price ‘has significantly lowered’ this season

With Liverpool reportedly on the verge of signing RB Leipzig's Ibrahima Konaté and Manchester City stacked at the centre-back position following their big-spending spree last year, only a couple of realistic suitors remain for Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Senegalese defender has long been coveted by a number of major clubs, but Napoli, or should we say, Aurelio De Laurentiis, made things difficult for them by demanding a high fee.

DON'T MISS:

Manchester City came close last year, but it may be Manchester United who ends up with the player this summer, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side desperately needs an experienced defender to play alongside Harry Maguire.

Gazzetta Dello Sport examines the upcoming transfer window for the Serie A club, which will almost certainly welcome Luciano Spalletti as their new manager, and focuses briefly on Koulibaly.

While the player is still there after two years of receiving bids for him, it is stated that ‘his value has significantly lowered' this season due to both the financial crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and his age.

DON'T MISS:

Koulibaly will turn 30 next month, which means that, while he will be entering the prime years of his career, he is also getting closer to retirement.

It has been reported that both Manchester clubs, L iverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain are interested, but as previously stated, Manchester City and the Reds do not make sense.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Manchester United was unable to defeat Villarreal in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, and while their defence was not specifically to blame, Maguire's absence was felt, and Victor Lindelöf and Eric Bailly never fully exuded confidence.

That is something Solskjaer will need to address, and there appears to be no better time than now to make a move for Koulibaly, who will bring experience and talent in abundance for a seemingly reasonable fee.
