Manchester United appears to be prioritizing the acquisition of a centre-half this summer.
Let's face it: with the exception of Harry Maguire, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's current defenders offer nothing but inconsistency in one form or another.
With that in mind, finding Maguire the ideal partner must be a top priority. Jules Kounde is a name we've discussed before. The Frenchman is now being linked with an Old Trafford switch once more.
Sport Witness transcribed the story from La Colina de Nervión. Sevilla considers Kounde to be one of the "jewels of the transfer market," pun intended.
United have reportedly asked ‘for a price' to sign the 22-year-old, with Sevilla Sporting Director Monchi demanding a fee of at least £56 million (€65 million).
This fee could rise even higher if Kounde has a successful European Championships with his native France.
Although Manchester United's need for a centre-back is pressing, the Reds aren't the only club interested in Kounde. Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid have all expressed interest, indicating how talented this young man is.
We're not going to sit here and tell you that Kounde is the best thing since sliced bread and that he will change our future on his own
What we will say is that United's current options at centre-half are inadequate. If Solskjaer sees Kounde as a clear upgrade over them, I'm all in for this deal to happen this summer.
Expect this one to drag on until after EURO 2020, as I don't think there will be any movement on it before the tournament begins next month.
