Max Taylor, Manchester United's young defender, has announced his departure.

Taylor was selected to United's under-23 squad to face Derby County on Monday night.

DON"T MISS:

This is the last game of the season for the under-23s, and his last opportunity to appear until his deal ends.

“I'll be sorry to quit United, it'll still be my club,” Taylor told MUTV, “but I'm excited for the next step of my career.”

When asked about his potential plans, Taylor said that when he becomes a free agent, he would accept proposals from outside of England.

“I've really loved the thought of playing abroad,” he said. I'm open to either.”

DON"T MISS:

A tumultuous season

Taylor was on appeal in Portsmouth earlier this year. No agreement has yet been reached, although it is possible that one will be reached after his United contract ends at the end of June.

Last summer, the talented centre-back saw loan loans to MK Dons and then Macclesfield fall through before securing a return to Kidderminster, where he scored in his first month.

His time at Kidderminster was cut short when the non-league season was canceled at the start of 2021.

He then returned to United's academy, where he currently plays under-23 games. His last game was tonight's game versus Derby.

Defeat hardship

Taylor has also faced much adversity throughout his career, including a time away from the game after being diagnosed with cancer.

Taylor was cleared to return to work a year after completing chemotherapy in 2018.

He travelled with the first team to Astana for the Europa League tie in 2019 but did not participate.

Taylor was one of the players United expected to release this summer, according to the MEN, and his departure comes as no disappointment.

He has to play first-team football now that he is 21, and there is no way for him to do so at Old Trafford.

He's had a taste of it on loan, and a stint with the under-23s also seen him make up for missing time. Now is his chance to weigh his choices and make an informed choice on the next move in his career.
