At halftime of Manchester United's defeat by Villarreal, tunnel cam footage shows Bruno Fernandes venting his rage at the Europa League final referees.

United failed to end a four-year trophy drought in Gdansk, losing 11-10 on penalties, with David de Gea's spot-kick saved by his opposite number Geronimo Rulli.

Solskjaer's men trailed at halftime after Gerard Moreno's effort, before Edinson Cavani equalized for United in the second half.

However, Portugal international Fernandes was visibly angrier than most after emerging from the dressing room following the Norwegian coach's half-time team talk and expressing his displeasure with the referees.

The 26-year-old slammed the officials for taking too long to make a VAR decision, while also accusing Tottenham loanee Juan Foyth of wasting time after being accidentally kneed in the head by Paul Pogba.

The Argentine needed a headband and then needed help again a few minutes later when his nose started bleeding again.

DON'T MISS:

'The number eight goes twice,' Fernandes is heard saying in a behind-the-scenes video from inside the tunnel.

He once stayed down for one minute. After that, it's back to the goal.'You wait for VAR once. 'How about three minutes?'

Fernandes and the rest of United's team, as well as Unai Emery's men, then make their way out for the second half, with substitute Fred heard encouraging his teammates as they made their way back out onto the PGE Arena pitch.

'Let's go guys, let's go guys,' says the Brazil international. Come on, let's go. Second ball, Scotty [McTominay], be careful.'

In the background, a shout directed at forward Marcus Rashford, who also struggled with fluency in the first half, can be heard.

'Rashy, come on mate,' he says.

In the absence of the injured Harry Maguire, Fernandes captained United on the night, but he was chastised for appearing to let the LaLiga outfit go first in the shootout despite winning the coin toss.

However, Fernandes issued a call for team unity on social media following the game.

He wrote, 'We win together and we lose together.'

'When one person fails, we all fail; when one person scores, we all score; when one person saves, we all save...' 'We are always UNITED.'

Pogba, United's fellow midfielder, also stated that the team would recover from the defeat, saying, 'I needed some days to reflect after the match.'

'Of course, we're disappointed not to have won the final, but we're a team that will face the future with our heads held high.'

'I'd like to thank all of the fans for their support. We will return stronger.'
