Cristiano Ronaldo's mother has pledged to do everything in her power to persuade her son to join Sporting Lisbon this summer, while the five-time Ballon d'Or winner confronts an unpredictable future at Juventus.
Ronaldo's future is at a crossroads as the summer transfer deadline approaches.
DON'T MISS:
The Portuguese legend has only over a year left on his Juventus deal, but if he stays, he will face a year in the Europa League.
Juve is currently planning a roster expansion this summer, with a focus on younger talent, increasing the possibility that Ronaldo will be replaced.
If he should depart, he has been linked with a return to Manchester United.
DON'T MISS:
Ronaldo remains a club legend at Old Trafford, as proven by his return to the club for Real Madrid or Juventus.
But he could end up going back to one of his old haunts instead.
Sporting Lisbon, where Ronaldo began his career, just won the Portuguese championship for the first time since 2002.
They hadn't won the title since before they sold their precious asset to United, and are now bookies' favourites to repurchase him this season.
And it's obvious that Ronaldo's mother needs the sale to go forward.
She told Calciomercato, through JuveFC, "Tomorrow I will go to see him and speak to him."
"He'll appear at Alvalade [Sporting's stadium] next season." I'll persuade him to return.”
It's been speculated that Ronaldo's Nike endorsement contract will help finance the deal, with sources saying Sporting would sign with the kit manufacturing behemoth beginning next season.
Nike has a lifelong contract with Ronaldo.
