"There was a three- to a four-minute period in the first half tonight where something went bad for Fred, but he never gives up; he's got the passion to play and go again."
That was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking after Manchester United beat AC Milan at the San Siro last month, just three days before Fred had a much longer stretch when something went wrong for him.
DON'T MISS:
His performance in the FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City, especially in the first half, was abysmal.
He was blamed for United's first goal and frequently gave the ball away; it was a forgettable afternoon.
If we're being critical, Fred has to get out of those nightmare streaks if he's going to make it at Manchester United, but with the way he handles pressure, we're confident he'll get plenty of opportunities to do so.
DON'T MISS:
Fred has now played 112 games for United, which could be 100 too many for his detractors, but the 28-year-old remains an important part of Solskjaer's increasingly confident line.
