Manchester United readjust transfer strategy after Eric Bailly contract extension

Manchester United readjust transfer strategy after Eric Bailly contract extension

After Eric Bailly's contract extension was made official, Manchester United fans were given both positive and poor news concerning the likes of Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, and Jack Grealish.

The Ivorian international's contract was set to end shortly, and it was clear that a decision about his future needed to be taken before the summer.

DON'T MISS:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to sign Bailly to a four-year contract, perhaps with new director of football John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher.

United fans are anticipating a busy summer after the appointments of those two key personnel, and it will be fun to see how they fare.

Meanwhile, it appears that Bailly's new contract has opened up some attention, and the club appears to be focusing on Haaland, Sancho, and Grealish.

DON'T MISS:

The good news for supporters is that it appears the club will fix a squad weakness; the bad news is that it appears it will come at the detriment of another.

Bailly's contract extension should not have put Manchester United's hunt for a top center-back on hold, and it's unfortunate that it has to be a one-or-the-other call in the first place.

At this point, the club will never be able to fully catch up to hiding their shortcomings so they will still be plugging gaps rather than preventing them from forming in the first place.
