Man Utd have finally moved in to sign £70,000-a-week star

Man Utd have finally moved in to sign £70,000-a-week star

Manchester United has been interested in Dominic Calvert-Lewin for some time, and the new sources suggest that they have made an attempt to sign him.

The Red Devils were closely linked with the Everton hero last year, but he opted to sign a new deal (The Sun) worth £70,000-a-week (Football Insider) to continue on Merseyside.

DON'T MISS:

The new contract did not deter Manchester United from seeking his signature.

The Sun announced last summer that the 20-time English champions inquired about the 24-year-old center forward but were turned down due to the Toffees' exorbitant asking price of £80 million.

According to an exclusive article covered by Stretchy News, Man United's top priority this summer is to recruit a quality forward, and they have just stepped in with an opportunity to entice Calvert-Lewin.

According to the article, the Goodison Park club has once again confirmed that the star striker will not be sold for less than £80 million.

DON'T MISS:

Under Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti, the England international has been in superb form. So far this season, he has 14 goals in 26 league starts, and he has 19 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions.

He made his Three Lions debut against Wales in October of last year, scoring once in a 3-0 victory for Southgate's men. So far, he has scored four goals in as many appearances for his country.

Given his current form and the fact that his contract with Everton expires in 2025, it is safe to assume that the Merseysiders will not sell him for a reduced fee.

Man United needs an established quality striker. Since Robin van Persie did it almost 8 years ago, no Old Trafford player has scored 20 league goals. Bruno Fernandes, a central attacking midfielder, is our new top scorer with 16 league goals this season.

In your view, is Dominic Calvert-Lewin good enough to strengthen Solskjaer’s strike force? Should United spend £80million to secure his signing?
