The Blues recovered from conceding an early goal at Villa Park to win three points thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Rodri, moving them 11 points ahead.

With their far superior goal differential, two victories and a loss in their last five games will be enough to secure their third league title in four years.
But, with talk leading up to the game that the scenario will be a reverse of 2012, when United lost an eight-point advantage in the final six weeks, allowing City to win the title in the final seconds of the season, Guardiola was acutely conscious of the significance of the victory.
"Losing today would have made the last games dangerous, because United are in top shape, winning a lot, and I have a feeling that if they needed to win, they would," Guardiola said.

"We deserved to win because of how we've done so far this season to have this advantage, and when you arrive in the last five games relying solely on yourself, it's a nice lift."
City has been in this situation before, and their history of finishing the season under heavy pressure from Liverpool in 2018-19 is valuable.
"We know just what we need, and that's how we played today," Guardiola said.
"I saw the players, they were determined and knew we were close, and after our two losses in separate tournaments, we knew how important it was - and for the training for the (Carabao Cup) final and the Champions League game."
