Jose Mourinho explains why Luke Shaw hasn’t been playing for Manchester United recently

Jose Mourinho explains why Luke Shaw hasn’t been playing for Manchester United recently

Manchester United Football Club picked up another impressive victory over the weekend, with Jose Mourinho's side looking relaxed at home to Watford.

The Red Devils are putting a lot of pressure on the teams above them, who don't seem to be losing points right now.

DON'T MISS:

One of the reasons for our recent good form is that the manager has a large squad at his disposal, allowing him to chop and change players to suit different situations.

Luke Shaw is one of those players who has recently missed out, close to how Anthony Martial had to wait for his opportunity.

Speaking to the media, the self-proclaimed Special One told Luke Shaw to keep working and waiting for his opportunity, and he then explained why Matteo Darmian was given the starting spot over the Englishman.

DON'T MISS:

“He has to work and wait,” Mourinho is quoted in the Manchester Evening News as saying.

“But today, I want one defender on the bench, and that defender should be able to play several positions.

Darmian can play left-back, right-back, and as an emergency central defender for us, so he was my pick.

The only thing I can suggest is that Luke is doing a good job.

I don't have any issues, and he's doing a good job.

He's fighting hard; there's nothing wrong with him.”

It's promising that he reassured the media that there is no conflict between the two and that his absence is due solely to operational considerations.

We must keep in mind that Shaw is still young and that serious injury has undoubtedly set him back.

I have no doubt that he will come good eventually; it might just take a little longer than others expect.
