Manchester United and Chelsea's search of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this summer has apparently been thwarted.
The Norwegian international has been on fire for Dortmund this season, scoring 33 goals in 34 games, and it seems he's on track for a major future at the highest level.
DON'T MISS:
According to the Daily Mirror, Haaland's boss, Mino Raiola, is now trying to make his client the first £1 million-a-week player, which may mean that only three clubs can afford him.
According to the Mirror, such clubs are Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain, which suggests that Manchester United and Chelsea are no longer in the running.
DON'T MISS:
The Athletic has linked the Red Devils with Haaland, though their article even lists Tottenham's Harry Kane as a choice upfront.
Another article from The Athletic has associated the 20-year-old with Chelsea, and it's obvious that all of these clubs could benefit from having a goal-scorer to their ranks.
Haaland will be a significant improvement over Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood at Old Trafford, as well as Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham at Stamford Bridge.
Unfortunately, £1 million a week is astronomical money that even these two English football titans would be unable to pay.
If Haaland would move to the Premier League, he could end up at Manchester City, where he will be an ideal long-term substitute for Sergio Aguero.
