Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comments on the future of Juan Mata at Man United last summer



Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he has rarely been warned of interest from other clubs in signing Juan Mata this summer.



The Spanish playmaker's current contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the season, although the Red Devils have the option to extend his contract for another 12 months.



Manchester United has yet to create an extension, so the expert is tech-savvy to speak to foreign clubs about the possibility of a move at the end of the season.

Mata has been linked with a move to Serie A this summer and Solskjaer says he has no surprises.



Speaking in talks ahead of Manchester United's clash with Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night, Solskjaer said: "I'm not surprised that the team was satisfied with him.

"One, he was a good athlete, two, he was talented and a good person.



"Once the contract is finalized and satisfied, I am sure Juan can speak to another club if he wants to.



"I met him all the time. We had a good conversation."



Mata has only made four Premier League appearances for Manchester United this season.



Manchester United will now shift their focus back to Premier League events and their trip to Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
