Red Devils Close To Completing 'First Permanent Sale'

Manchester United could be on the verge of completing its first significant summer transfer.

Charlie McCann is likely to join Rangers FC in the Scottish Premiership after the club agreed to a contract to sign the 19-year-old, according to Laurie With well of The Athletic.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the midfielder is set to become Manchester United's "first permanent sale of the summer," and is anticipated to join Steven Gerrard's team for roughly £750,000 ($1 million).

While Gerrard is said to see McCann as a future star, the teenager will begin his career with the Rangers B team, with the intention of joining the first-team squad “in a year's time,” according to the article.

McCann, a 15-year-old Coventry City player, was signed by the Red Devils in January 2018. He rapidly established himself as a fixture in the club's Under-18 side, who reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals for the first time in eight years last year.

DON'T MISS:

McCann scored four goals in 17 games for Manchester United in the English Premier League 2 - Division 1 last season.

It didn't take long for Gerrard to be proven correct about McCann's potential, after he had been watching the dynamic attacker for some time, according to the Daily Record.

Gerrard is attempting to complete the transfer within the next 48 hours or "before the new season gets off” this weekend, according to the source, with McCann on the verge of joining his side.

While the Rangers appear to be busy with acquisitions, Gerrard is excited to defend his Scottish Premiership title with a renewed resolve to win.

DON'T MISS:

"I hadn't won in a long time," Gerrard told ESPN exclusively. “I started this work little over three years ago, and it provided me the chance to fight and reclaim that winning feeling from a personal standpoint.”

"And the wait was well worth it because [winning the title] felt incredible," he concluded. “Obviously, getting that first big trophy in the bag was a huge relief, but just reminiscing and going back throughout my playing career, to feel that winning feeling again and wear a winners' medal around your neck was absolutely top class,” he said.

“It is always the demand and responsibility to contribute to the success."
