Ajax had looked poised to sign the player a few days ago, and he was said to be waiting in an Amsterdam hotel to finalize the agreement, but the process has been halted, and Ajax will instead extend the contract of Dusan Tadic, according to Romano.
It was previously reported that United was aiming to outbid Ajax for the teenage winger, but this is not the case, as it has now been revealed that Rennes was the club in question.
Other clubs interested in the player included Bayer Leverkusen of Germany and Monaco and Lyon of France.
Sulemana appears to be devoted to the notion of relocating to Rennes, having recently toured the facilities.
Rennes is finalizing procedures to sign the player to a deal that will last until June 2026.
The reason for United's failure to pursue the deal is unknown, although it could be because they are prioritizing other areas this time around, as evidenced by their recent signings of Amad, Pellistri, and Sancho, all of whom can play on either wing.
