Manchester United ‘have hopeful date for Raphael Varane debut’ in latest transfer update

Raphael Varane is a target for Manchester United in this summer's transfer window.

According to rumors, Manchester United wants to buy Raphael Varane before their August 7 match against Everton. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his sights set on the Real Madrid star. And there's a growing sense of hope around Old Trafford that a deal may be reached.

DON'T MISS:

Varane has been admired by Manchester United for over a decade.

In 2011, Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to sign the France international, believing he would be the ideal long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand.

United, on the other hand, missed out after Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane called and lured his compatriot to Spain instead.

Solskjaer is trying to achieve where his mentor failed ten years ago.

The Norwegian is desperate to get Varane, believing that he could be the key to winning the Premier League next season.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United would like to sign Varane by August 7, when they play Everton in a pre-season friendly.

They want to allow the 28-year-old time to ‘bed in' and acclimate to his new surroundings, according to reports.

While United is still working on a deal for the 2018 World Cup winner, no agreement is currently in the works.

They're still talking on personal terms, according to Express Sport, with Varane demanding a hefty pay increase.

DON'T MISS:

According to some sources, United is willing to pay him a weekly salary of £350,000, making him one of the club's highest-paid players.

However, this could irritate Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba, who are both expecting for compensation increases.

Real Madrid and United must also agree on a cost.

Los Blancos are willing to trade their prized asset in order to bankroll a mega-deal for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, who is their top target right now.

They don't want to let Varane go for a bargain, with reports claiming they're looking for a fee of around £50 million to authorise his exit.

Jamie O'Hara, on the other hand, recently spoke out about the player.

He also questioned why Varane would desire to leave Real Madrid, while also assessing the defender's abilities.

“My question was, why is he leaving Real Madrid since everyone claims he is the best center back in the world?” he said.

“Many people believe he had a falling out with the manager and decided it was time to go on.

“(United) are in desperate need of a centre half, and if they can obtain him, it will significantly strengthen the team.) It would be a fantastic signing for Manchester United, and one that they need to improve...

Varane and Maguire, it's world-class. With them both, I'd be a little concerned about the pace.

“Last season, I saw Varane get ripped apart by Chelsea in the Champions League. Teams would try to take advantage of their speed against them two, I believe.

“If you look at Liverpool, van Dijk and Gomez have pace and can get out of trouble when they are fit. United might be lacking in that department.”

Varane isn't the only player linked with a transfer to Manchester United.

The Red Devils are also looking for midfield reinforcements as they look to win their first Premier League title since Ferguson's retirement in 2013.

Declan Rice, Eduardo Camavinga, and Saul Niguez are just three of the players on their shortlist, all of whom have questionable futures at West Ham, Rennes, and Atletico Madrid.

Kieran Trippier is also a target for United.

However, due to a lack of funding, the saga may continue.
