Looking at Jadon Sancho's big game record ahead of Manchester United move

The deal for Jadon Sancho to join Manchester United has been finalized, pending his medical and unveiling.

The long-awaited transfer has been a long time coming for United, dating back to before he ever went to Dortmund.

DON'T MISS:

The good news is that Sancho has gained valuable experience at Dortmund over the last several seasons and has developed a critical trait.

Sancho has proven to be a capable performer in important games. And this will be critical for Manchester United.

Sancho showed flashes of his talent during England's quarter-final match versus Ukraine in Euro 2020. He went immediately into the side and played as if he had been a member of the team for the entire competition.

DON'T MISS:

The German Cup final was one of his last competitive matches, and he played a key role in Dortmund's victory over RB Leipzig. With two goals, he was instrumental in his team's victory.

For the past year, Sancho had been a constant thorn in the side of RB Leipzig. He scored six goals and added four assists in seven games versus them.

The United-bound winger also made an impact in Dortmund's Revierderby against Schalke. In seven games, he scored two goals and added three assists.

It's been more difficult against Bayern. Dortmund has lost five of Sancho's seven games against the Bundesliga's perennial winners. Despite this, the winger managed to score once and assist once. Sancho has been able to get in amongst the goals despite the hardness of the games against Bayern.

Sancho has made an even bigger impact in the Champions League. He scored against Barcelona at the Nou Camp and added an assist against Atletico Madrid's defensive prowess.

Sancho has goals against Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and RB Leipzig on his CV while being only 21 years old. You couldn't ask for much more from a newcomer to the club.

Sancho has always had it easy; high-pressure games do not faze him; in fact, he loves on them. This dates back to his days as a student at City's academy. Sancho scored one goal and added an assist in two derby games against Manchester United's under-18s.

All of this speaks well for United, as Sancho will be put to the test immediately away. On the first day of the league season, he may make his competitive debut against Leeds.

United then has a run of games against Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City in October and November. There will also be Champions League games thrown in for good measure.

You could argue that every Manchester United match is a big game, such is the pressure, but some are bigger than others. Sancho has done everything asked of him at Dortmund and will embrace the challenge, and he will have the help of a group of very talented teammates.
