Jack Grealish 'deletes' tweets backing Man Utd hours after £100m Man City bid

Jack Grealish 'deletes' tweets backing Man Utd hours after £100m Man City bid

After reports of a £100 million approach from Manchester City, Jack Grealish appears to have erased old tweets professing his love for Manchester United.

Despite his support for United at the time, City fans are now hopeful that the Aston Villa midfielder, 25, is on his way to the Etihad.

"Football is underway! Please United win and City lose, I cannot watch City win the league lol, come on the Villa also!!" Grealish, then 16, tweeted.

"On my way to training, finally I'm back training n the sun's shining, completely BUZZING for the game tonight, come on u reds #United," another said.

Grealish's comments may have made him angry, as they appeared to be deleted around the time when news of a British record bid broke.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, it was rumored that Villa and City had begun talks about a possible transfer.

A sum of roughly £100 million has been suggested, although it's uncertain if Villa would accept or City would spend it.

Jermaine Jenas, an ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa player, told Daily Star Sport on Friday that Grealish should reconsider joining the Premier League champions.

"From Jack's perspective, it all relies on what Guardiola's plans are for Phil Foden, because Phil spent last year on the left side for Manchester City and was great, and that's where Jack plays," Jenas stated.

"At City, there have been numerous instances where left-sided players have gone missing. Leroy Sane needed to go out of there because, despite his brilliance, Sterling didn't get a game last season.

"It's difficult for me to say he shouldn't leave, but I'm not sure Man City is the right place for him."

"It's a strange one, but I think if he gets there and you suddenly have Grealish, you place Foden a bit more central, you might get Kane or Lewandowski or Haaland, you're going to have a fantastic squad."

"However, how long will Pep stay there?" he continued. There are so many distinct aspects to Man City that I'm not sure if it's the right place for Jack.

DON'T MISS:

"It's a really difficult situation to turn down Man City; from a positional standpoint, Pep might be looking at it and saying, Jack's going to go on the left, I'm now going to bring Foden into that David Silva role, I've got Rodri at the base of it, Kevin De Bruyne on the right again, and you look at that and say, I need to be part of that, that sounds good," and you look at it and say, "I

"But the more we've been talking about it, I don't think he can turn it down personally, it's too good a move, too good a football club and too good a manager and he'd probably regret it for life."
