The Red Devils seek to acquire transfer funds by selling one of their peripheral players, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

According to rumors, Manchester United wants to ‘cash in' by selling Diogo Dalot this summer. Dalot spent the 2020/21 season on loan at AC Milan, and United are said to have no plans to bring him back for the upcoming season.

DON'T MISS:

Last season, Dalot made 33 appearances for Milan, and his versatility allowed him to play on both the left and right flanks.

While he did not establish himself as a first-choice option, he was a valuable member of Stefano Pioli's team, which finished second in Serie A last season.

Milan is currently putting the finishing touches on their roster for the 2021/22 season, as Pioli designs a method to narrow the 12-point difference with Inter.

After a good loan spell in Milan last season, the club has already sealed a £25 million deal for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori, who will join the team on July 1.

DON'T MISS:

Milan appears to be trying to extend Dalot's contract, with Milan News saying that Dalot is 'pushing' to stay with the Serie A club for another season.

The issue for the Italian club is that United have no intention of loaning Dalot out for another season and are apparently looking to ‘cash in' on the Portugal under-21 international by selling him.

Dalot, who joined United from Porto for £19 million in 2018, has a deal that runs through June 2023 and pays roughly £40,000 per week.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a transfer fee for his services, thus the two teams will ‘continue to negotiate to try and strike an agreement,' according to the article.

Dalot has only made 35 appearances for the club in the last three years, so it's not unexpected that Solskjaer doesn't think he has room for him in his squad.

Luke Shaw and Alex Telles are United's two left-backs, and they're looking for a third right-back to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

After helping Diego Simeone's side win La Liga last season, the club is attempting to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid.

The 30-year-old allegedly wants to return to the Premier League next season, but Atleti is certain about their asking price.

According to Sky Sports, Atletico Madrid wants £43 million (€50 million) for Trippier, who has two years left on his contract.

United is in talks with the Spanish club, but any agreement is unlikely until after the European Championship, when Trippier is an important member of England's squad.
