How Jadon Sancho's 2020/21 season compared to his future Manchester United teammates

How Jadon Sancho's 2020/21 season compared to his future Manchester United teammates

Manchester United is close to signing Jadon Sancho. By now, we've all figured it out, and all that's left is for the transfer drama to be completed.

The German publication Ruhr Nachrichten was the latest outlet to tout the continuing agreement as almost complete last night.

DON'T MISS:

So there's not much else to say about the transfer itself, except that when it's eventually completed, we'll have all of the crucial updates.

Instead, we'll examine at how Sancho's season stacks up against that of his prospective Manchester United teammates.

Despite a sluggish start, Sancho finished well. He scored 16 goals and added 19 assists in total.

Sancho would have been Manchester United's fourth-highest scorer in 2020/21 with 16 goals for Dortmund.

Bruno Fernandes (28), Marcus Rashford (21) and Edinson Cavani (21) all scored fewer (17).

Mason Greenwood, United's next top scorer, finished with a total of 12 points.

Sancho's most productive season was in 2019/20, when he scored 20 goals.

DON'T MISS:

That season, he was behind Marcus Rashford (22) and Anthony Martial (23) - both of whom had a disappointing season the previous year.

United's most talented creator

Sancho's 19 assists last season put him in first place among the Red Devils' assist leaders.

With 18 assists, Bruno Fernandes was United's leading assist provider.

Marcus Rashford scored 12, making him the only player to score in double figures alongside Fernandes.

So it's evident that United has signed a significant player, and Sancho's ability to produce goals will help his teammates score more goals.

Playing alongside Sancho and connecting up with him will aid Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani, and Anthony Martial.

Bruno Fernandes will also enjoy the addition of another creative force to the attack, which will relieve some of the strain on him and make his job a bit simpler as defenses focus their efforts on stopping Sancho.

Sancho will have to demonstrate that he can transfer his Bundesliga form to the Premier League, which may not happen immediately now. His numbers from the previous two seasons show a player with a lot of potential.

Sancho has every reason to believe he will be a major success at Old Trafford if he works hard.
