Declan Rice, a West Ham stalwart, is interested in joining Manchester United this summer.
All of Manchester United's transfer rumors have revolved around the pursuit of a right-winger and a center-back. We at Old Trafford Faithful believe we have one more pressing need: defensive midfield.
Don't get me wrong: I admire Scott McTominay, but he requires assistance. Nemanja Matic is getting on in years, and those two are pretty much the only players in United's engine room who like performing the grunt work.
Declan Rice of West Ham United might be an excellent signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Reds' chances of bringing him in increased. If the Manchester Evening News is to be believed, that is...
In an article about United's transfer targets, it's the material on Rice that has piqued our interest the most. The gifted 22-year-old is reportedly ‘interested' in joining United. Unfortunately, it is expected that he will stay with West Ham for at least another year.
Rice's current club estimates him to be worth 'near to £100 million,' which is certainly a large sum of money. However, if you plan on getting the best part of a decade out of the player, it could end up being a wonderful deal over the course of his career.
After seeing England this weekend, I'd like to take a closer look at Kalvin Phillips of Leeds United. He was outstanding at Wembley on Sunday, and though wresting him away from a local rival will be difficult, we've done it before – just ask Eric Cantona.
Rice, on the other hand, if signed by United, would greatly boost our starting lineup.
