Cristiano Ronaldo ‘given bumper contract offer by Man Utd’ in Hollywood transfer twist

Cristiano Ronaldo

In this summer's transfer window, Cristiano Ronaldo might leave Juventus for a Hollywood return to Manchester United.

Manchester United has reportedly offered Cristiano Ronaldo a two-year contract, according to reports. The future of the Juventus star in Turin is now uncertain. And a departure from the Allianz Stadium is a possibility in the summer transfer window.

DON'T MISS:

Since joining Juventus from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window of 2018, Ronaldo has scored 81 goals in 94 Serie A matches.

The 36-year-old, though, could be let go as the Old Lady tries to balance the books in the wake of the coronavirus catastrophe.

Ronaldo has stated that his current emphasis is on Euro 2020, with Portugal's match against Hungary scheduled for later today (5pm).

And he'll go into that game with speculation over his future heating up, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that United had offered the veteran a two-year contract.

United is said to have offered him a contract for €20 million per year, which equates to £17.2 million per year, or £330,000 a week.

Ronaldo would be the club's second-highest earner, behind only David De Gea, who earns £350,000 a week at Old Trafford.

DON'T MISS:

Any agreement isn't simple, though.

Juventus wants Paul Pogba in a swap deal with Cristiano Ronaldo, and with Solskjaer anxious to keep France international, this is a hurdle they must overcome.

Then there's the actual player.

The veteran is said to be seeking £26.7 million per year from whoever he joins next, believing he is entitled to £513,000 a week.

Although Ronaldo is open to returning to United, the club isn't wasting time, and it's well accepted that Jadon Sancho is their first aim for the time being.

Sancho has been on the club's radar since 2017 when Jose Mourinho attempted to sign him after learning of his departure from Manchester City.

United attempted to sign the Dortmund star in 2019 but was forced to settle for Daniel James after their failure to qualify for the Champions League was counted against them.

Last summer, they were priced out of a move, forcing them to sign Edinson Cavani on a free transfer as a replacement.

Ronaldo spent the previous six years of his career with Manchester United.

He struggled to adjust to life in England after being signed as David Beckham's replacement in 2003 and was accused of overplaying the ball.

But he returned from the 2006 World Cup transformed, leading the Red Devils to three Premier League victories in a row, as well as the Champions League trophy, between 2007 and 2009.

When asked about his future on Monday, Ronaldo said, "I have been playing at the best level for many years, this doesn't faze me."

"I might have had some sleepless nights when I was 18 or 19, but I'm 36 now."

“Regardless of whether I continue at Juve or am transferred, whatever happens, will be for the best.

“The Euros are the most important thing right now; it's my sixth Euros, but it seems like my first. From the beginning to the last match, we want to play a nice match with positive thoughts.”

Ronaldo started in 2014 that he would love to return to United in the future.

“Manchester is one of my favorite cities,” he remarked.

“Everyone is aware of this. Manchester has a special place in my heart.

“The supporters are incredible, and I want to return one day.”

If Ronaldo were to return to Old Trafford, he would almost certainly have to choose a new number.

Edinson Cavani now wears the No. 7 jerseys, and the 34-year-old is unlikely to relinquish it without a fight.
