According to former Premier League striker Dean Windass, Edinson Cavani's new contract at Manchester United will not prevent Harry Kane from joining the club.
When fit, Cavani has been a regular for Manchester United this season, and he has not disappointed when leading the line.
The 34-year-old finished the season with 17 goals in all competitions, the most recent of which came in the Europa League final loss to Villarreal and recently agreed to a one-year contract extension with the club.
According to Windass, this does not jeopardize United's chances of acquiring Kane this summer, as the Premier League club has already made contact with the England captain's representatives.
“Even though they signed Cavani, if Harry Kane is signed, Cavani will be a squad player,” Windass exclusively told TIF.
“I think Cavani was a squad player at first, but then, you know, he started scoring goals.”
Earlier this month, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to rule out the possibility of bringing in a new No.9 this summer.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano recently revealed on his Here We Go podcast (via GiveMeSport) that the Norwegian is set to meet with the club about potential transfer targets, indicating that a move for Kane or another forward is still very much on the table.
