Mark Hughes believes Mason Greenwood can have a "great career" at Manchester United if he continues on his current upward trajectory.

In the 2019/20 season, the 19-year-old United academy graduate established himself as a first-team regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has gone on to score 29 goals in 104 appearances for the Red Devils.

DON'T MISS:

Greenwood will have the chance to win his first trophy with his childhood club when United faces Villarreal in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

The form of the two-footed forward has also earned him a place in Gareth Southgate's provisional 33-man England squad for the postponed Euros this summer.

If Greenwood continues to put in strong performances, United hero Hughes believes he will have a successful career at Old Trafford. 'I like Mason; I think he's an exceptional young player,' Hughes said to Sky Sports.

DON'T MISS:

‘He enjoys playing on the right side of the pitch. I believe that is his best position; he prefers to come in on his left foot, but he can also go the other way.'

When you're up against a player who doesn't really favor one side or the other, it's extremely difficult for defenders. If you show him one side, he'll go the other, and he can shoot very well with either foot.

' I believe he does not enjoy playing in the middle as much as he does in wider positions, similar to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, so he can attack full-backs and have that space. He's well-liked at the club, and many consider him to be United's best finisher.

You get the impression that if he can maintain his current progression and performance level, he will have a successful career at United.

‘He's had a great start, and I think some people forget how old he is, and it's not easy to work your way up through the ranks at the club and pull on the shirt.' ‘To break into the first team and hold your own demonstrates his talent, and credit to him.'
